The History of Precision Engine Controls Corporation

Precision Engine Controls Corporation (PECC) evolved from a company founded in 1968 called Spasors Corporation, which specialized in aircraft instrumentation equipment. Today, PECC manufactures control systems, fuel metering valves and actuators for industrial gas turbine engines. Below is a summary of the changes in focus and company names over the last 30 years.

In the 70's, the company was focused on manufacturing industrial turbine control systems under the name Continental Controls Corporation and in 1978, the company was acquired by Bendix. It then transitioned into military electronic engine controls under the name Bendix Energy Controls, while maintaining the industrial turbine controls line of the former company.

In 1982, Bendix sold the company to Allied and in 1985, Allied merged with Signal; however, the company focus remained on military and industrial engine controls. In 1987 AlliedSignal transferred its line of industrial magneto products from Florida to California to be combined with the digital reciprocating and turbine engine control systems.

During the late 1980's the Black Box product line was divested to a new start up company that also took on the old company name of Continental Controls Corporation.

The most important date to us as Precision Engine Controls: In 1992, AlliedSignal divested the industrial line of products. The company became known as Precision Engine Controls Corporation (PECC).

PECC provides controls, valves, and actuators to some of the largest and best known manufacturers of industrial gas turbine engines in the world such as Honeywell, Kawasaki, Nuovo Pignone, Rolls-Royce and Solar Turbines.

PECC has been ISO 9001 certified since early 1997, meeting these quality standards as well as other stringent product certifications such as PED and ATEX.

PECC acquired QualTech Manufacturing in January of 2002 to augment our ability to support our machining requirements and assist with prototyping and cost reduction efforts. QualTech Manufacturing, our San Diego Machine shop was founded in 1976. They evolved into a diverse manufacturing organization, producing complex tooling components, aerospace valves and bodies, medical and industrial products from a wide variety of alloys. They are now supporting us and other build-to-print customers with similar precision products, but are now producing in higher volumes than they were before the acquisition.

Our highly sophisticated products, satisfied customer network, skilled employee base, and financial strength combine to make Precision Engine Controls Corporation a worldwide leader in supporting the industrial turbine engine market.
