RAX All-Electric Rotary Actuator

PECC developed its all-electric rotary actuators to replace dated, cumbersome pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
The RAX all-electric rotary actuator product line is designed for high-temperature, hazardous environments. These all-in-one, self-contained actuators utilize an explosion-proof, on-board electronic controller. PECC actuators also possess the flexibility to be mounted in any position for valve actuators, guide vanes, and bleed and steam valves.
The RAX products eliminate the need for pumps and tubing normally associated with hydro-mechanical designs, which also reduces the high costs of installation and maintenance. Features like these make the RAX attractive to a variety of on-engine applications.
The ruggedized digital motor control system is small enough to be housed on-board within the assembly, providing precise movement through a compact, highly-reliable brushless DC motor and planetary gearbox drive mechanism. An on-board resolver provides position feedback.
The actuators are programmable to develop up to 3430 in-lbf of continuous torque. They are also capable of achieving tight positioning accuracy – better than ±1% of full travel. With its unique software, the RAX can be programmed for linear or non-linear movement profiles.
An internal health monitoring system provides fault and over-temperature information to the operator. Real-time motor current, voltage, temperature, and position tracking can be monitored using the standard, isolated RS485 interface or the optional Ethernet or CAN interfaces.
Retaining a common, compact package, PECC’s all-electric actuators are available in three different output torque levels.
